This city played a vital role in spreading Christianity and was visited by Paul in his second missionary journey. We visit the Library of Celsus before exploring the Hadrian Temple and the ancient Marble Road of Ephesus. We then visit the House of the Virgin Mary who spent her final years in this city.

We visit Smyrna, another of the Seven Churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation. We will visit the Smyrna Agora and The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Evangelist.

The Altar of Zeus, also called the Pergamon Altar, is a monumental structure built to commemorate the victory of the Pergamon Kingdom over the Galatians. The Altar of Pergamon referred to as the Throne of Satan in a brief narrative in the Revelation section of the Book of St. John, is a very impressive structure

Visit the ancient city of Philippi where the Apostle Paul established the first Christian church in Europe and performed the first Christian baptism of a woman.

Here Paul preached on his second and third missionary journeys. We explore the Church of Hagia Sophia (not to be confused with the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul). We then explore the medieval frescoes inside the central dome of the St. George Rotunda Church.

Formed on these gigantic rocks, one of Greece's most important monastic communities flourished, perched atop the cliffs in an almost surreal setting. The Greek word "Meteora," meaning "suspended in the air," aptly describes these remarkable Greek Orthodox monasteries.

Today we begin at ancient Corinth to enhance our understanding of Corinthians I and II. We explore the ancient Agora of Corinth, the Temple of Apollo as well as the Roman Odeon. 

We move to the Greek port of Cenchrea (Kechries) where Paul visited during his second missionary journey and tour its early Christian Basilica. 

The Parthenon, the temple of Athena, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the major attraction of Athens. The Erechtheion displays the statues of the female Caryatids, though the original statues have been replaced by copies because of air pollution (the originals are in the new Museum).
